May is Mental Health Month and I wanted to share one of my favorite and most impactful resources. Mental Health America launched May as Mental Health Month is 1949. This is the most highly recognized mental health awareness event in the nation.

In 2021, MHA will continue their theme of Tools 2 Thrive, providing practice tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase their resiliency regardless of their personal situation. There is a downloadable Tools 2 Thrive Toolkit located on their website.

The toolkit includes a ton of materials including social media and communication materials as well as printable handouts on various topics. Some of the topics include:

  • Adapting after trauma and stress

  • Dealing with anger and frustration

  • Getting out of thinking traps

  • Processing big changes

  • Taking time for yourself

  • Radical acceptance

I am not going to provide the whole toolkit on my blog but it is quick and easy to download if you click the link above and fill out the form.

More about Mental Health America and their mission, goals and initiatives. MHA is the nation’s leading community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and promoting overall mental health of all.

Mission: Mental Health America (MHA)'s work is driven by its commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all; early identification and intervention for those at risk; integrated care, services, and supports for those who need them; with recovery as the goal.

About: Founded in 1909 by Clifford W. Beers, Mental Health America (MHA) is the nation’s leading community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and promoting the overall mental health of all. During his stays in public and private institutions, Beers witnessed and was subjected to horrible abuse. From these experiences, Beers set into motion a reform movement that took shape and is known today as Mental Health America.

MHA’s programs and initiatives fulfill its mission of promoting mental health and preventing mental illness through advocacy, education, research and services. MHA’s national office and its 200+ affiliates and associates around the country work every day to protect the rights and dignity of individuals with lived experience and ensure that peers and their voices are integrated into all areas of the organization.
